RICS Social Impact Awards - Double Win
This week our congratulations go out to all of our colleagues involved in the Anlaby and East Ella Flood Alleviation Scheme, which has won both the Infrastructure Category award and Project of the Year award at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Yorkshire and Humber Social Impact Awards 2020. As a winning entry, the project will now go forward to the RICS Social Impact Awards National Grand Final on Thursday 24 September.

The winners of the prestigious RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) awards for 2019 have been announced and Colas Ltd have collected three major awards, including for the first time the Fleet Safety Technology Trophy.

Colas continues to work with Hampshire County Council following framework award
Colas is delighted to have been awarded a place on the Hampshire County Council – Generation 4-1 Civil Engineering, Highways and Transportation Collaborative Framework. This four year framework will run from April 1st 2020 and will include works with a value up to £250,000.

Colas introduces the Exopush Exoskeleton to the UK
Colas has launched the Exopush in its UK business. Exopush is an exoskeleton designed to give power assistance to operatives working on levelling with a rake. Amongst emerging benefits will be productivity gains and increased efficiency plus direct cost savings from lost time at work in the industry, due to multiskeletal problems.

Works get underway in the Falklands after strong team collaboration
The project on the Falkland Islands’ brief was to install new Addagrip system on Alpha Loop and RHAG remedials. The green light was given to the operational team to go ahead and start ordering for the project just 10 days before the 2019 Christmas break. The vessel was due to sail on the 13th of January, which was a tight deadline. The team pre-empted a positive outcome regarding contract awarding, this meant that once the contract was awarded they were primed for early mobilisation.

Colas (Gabon) UK receives €43 million from UKEF to upgrade roads in Gabon
Liz Truss, Department of International Trade Secretary, today announced that UK Export Finance (UKEF) has provided €43 million worth of support for a project by Colas (Gabon) UK to upgrade roads in Gabon. Colas has had a significant presence in Gabon for 50 years. Colas Ltd approached UK Export Finance seeking investment in a prestigious and high-impact project to upgrade 86km of roads in Libreville.

Great Ancoats Street improvement works get underway
Colas continues to cement its place in the North West with Mancunian Way already under development, this week sees the contractor starting work on another contract win from Manchester City Council for the Great Ancoats Street Improvement Works under Lot 4 of the Highways & Infrastructure Construction Works framework.
